ASSEMBLY HALL

Morning assembly is a must routine every day for a school to begin with. The purpose of assembly is to assemble the students for their morning prayers along with a value based interactive session. Assembly hall is on the fifth floor of English Medium Secondary section where students of each standard assemble on each day in a week. It develops the sense of unity, integrity and dignity among the students. This daily routine creates a sense of pride in the students for their school. It helps students and teachers to maintain a positive, healthy and happy environment of the school.

CANTEEN

When eating is social, serving children, with a variety and nutritious food every day is a trying situation for parents at home. But this problem has been taken care of by the school. SDDRST has provided with a spacious common canteen for all the sections of its institution.

Canteen ambience plays a pivotal role in the intellectual and physical development of students. It promotes learning of healthy eating habits among students. Food provided at the school canteen has a long-term effect on child’s eating habit, food selection and preferences and attitude towards food intake. Present generation is quite conscious about health and healthy eating habits. So, keeping in view with the health consciousness of the students; SDDRST Canteen is a healthy hub – A large area with variety of refreshments served as per students’ taste. Food safety, good hospitality and healthy hygiene are the bench mark of SVDD canteen. It is the most popular place where students bond over food during their recess time.

DIGITAL CLASSROOM

Teaching with technology is the need of the hour. Technology is needed to support and enhance teaching/learning process. It gives both teacher and student the opportunity to explain and understand abstract ideas in a better manner. SVDD secondary section has empowered its teachers with the e – sense teaching – learning system. Each classroom is equipped with an e – sense device that makes learning an easy task for students. It has made classroom environment technology enabled, where student – teacher interaction is supported by ICT. It is the most effective and innovative way of engaging the young learners to the most abstract concepts.

ICT LAB

ICT today is a part of life. With the purpose of innovation, information and education SVDD secondary section developed its ICT labs. Information and Communication labs are on the first floor of its main building. S.V.D.D’s ICT Labs are the hotbed of activities. Students are taught to supplement the curricular (theory based) learning by computer assisted instructions, which makes complex learning materials simple and easy to understand. Students are also given hands on experience to work on computers so that they can utilize technology in daily life.

MATHS LAB

SVDD School – in order to create Math geniuses and remove the phobia for math from the young minds has designed a most innovative and creative concept of Math Lab. It is a step towards developing love for math by providing practical knowledge. Math Lab (first of its kind) was introduced to the students to help them enjoy the solutions to problems through exploration. Math Lab is on the 4^th floor of SVDD main building. It is a space to explore concepts beyond curriculum and address divergent thinking among students. It works with various manipulatives (centimeter cubes, origami sheets, patty paper, geo – boards, zooms and struts and above all GSP through computer application) which makes math’s concepts and theorems easy to understand. Students perform various activities and get first-hand experience of various mathematical concepts.

SCIENCE LAB

One of the important medium to gain knowledge is through experiments. Researches are conducted and conclusions deduced, when a phenomenon is studied and experimented. World is witness to some of the intelligent brains mushrooming in the science labs. It therefore, becomes incredibly important for a school student to get firsthand experience in experimentation. S.V.D.D. Secondary English Medium School provides such experiences to its students in its well-equipped science laboratories (Lab I and Lab II) wherein students are exposed to physics, chemistry and Bio-specimens and instrumentations. Teachers and students explore certain concept of interest in the subject and provide with evidence on which the theory is based. Students perform various experiments using scientific apparatus and devices and explore their world of work.

LIBRARY

SVDD secondary section inaugurated its world class library on 26th of January 2015, which can now be accessed by students, teachers and parents. This conceptualized library is spread over 1100 sq. ft. area and is equipped with the most modern facilities that suit the taste of students.

It houses over 4000 books and references well segregated into various reading sections – Shakespeare to Premchand, Ramanujan to Thomas Edison, Jhumpa Lahiri to Ruskin Bond, to great women writers – Sarojini Naidu with traditional Indian flavour to Indian social life through the stories of Sudha Murthy, from Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati to English and many more, the list goes on and on with add ons in every new academic year. It also has LED TV, Audio – Visual arrangements and computer terminals to facilitate e – learning. The speciality of the library is the cozy environment, comfortable seating and air-conditioned room.

SVDD SECONDARY SECTION has taken a vital step towards school improvement, students’ safety and security by having its entire section under 24/7 CCTV surveillance.

SVDD Secondary section reaches out, to its parents through SMS ALERTS and Whatapp Messages which is a medium of communication to keep the parents posted about the latest happenings in the school. It is also a way of sending time sensitive information to parents.
